Self-Hosted Deployment

Self-hosted deployment is a software delivery model where the customer runs the application on their own infrastructure instead of using the vendor's cloud.

Self-hosted deployment is a software delivery model where the customer installs and runs the application on their own servers or private cloud infrastructure, rather than accessing it through the vendor’s cloud environment. The customer maintains control over the hardware, networking, security configuration, and data storage.

Self-hosted options exist because some organizations — particularly in regulated industries like finance, healthcare, and government — have strict requirements about where their data lives and who can access it. They may need to keep data within specific geographic boundaries, behind their own firewall, or isolated from other customers entirely.

From a vendor perspective, offering self-hosted deployment opens up market segments that would otherwise be inaccessible. Many enterprise contracts, especially in regulated industries, require it as a prerequisite. However, it adds significant complexity to your operations: you need to support multiple deployment environments, manage version fragmentation, provide different upgrade paths, and often offer on-premises support.

The trade-offs for customers are real. Self-hosted gives you maximum control over security, compliance, and customization. But it also means you are responsible for infrastructure maintenance, updates, scaling, and troubleshooting. Cloud-hosted versions typically get new features faster and require less internal IT overhead.

For GTM teams, self-hosted deployment is a positioning and competitive differentiator. If your competitors are cloud-only and your target segment requires on-premises options, that is a significant advantage. Making self-hosted deployment a clear part of your product strategy and integrations ensures prospects in regulated industries can quickly see that you meet their infrastructure requirements.
